China’s OnePlus dominated India’s premium smartphone (over ₹30,000) segment in 2019, according to the counterpoint research. The brand accounted for one-third of the market share, outpacing Samsung (26%) and Apple (25%), backed by new launches and entry in the ultra-premium segment. Around “20% of the demand” came from users shifting from iPhones to Android OS. Despite subdued overall growth, the premium smartphone segment is growing faster. According to IDC,Chinese Brands including Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus and Realme make up for a 40% of India’s smartphone market.
